Colorful burst of firecrackers in the sky

Start 2017 out by Taking Care of at Least One Resolution — to Improve Your Health!

Your dental health is directly linked to your oral health. Dr. Michelle E Doll, MD, recently presented the findings of her study at the National Conference for the Infectious Disease Society of America in October of 2016. She found that people who don’t visit the dentist for preventive care have an 86% greater risk of contracting pneumonia than those who visit two or more times per year. It is thought that regular dental cleanings and exams to find other decay/disease in the mouth reduce the risk of pneumonia by decreasing the amount of harmful oral bacteria that could migrate to the lungs and cause an infection there.

There has been a link between periodontal disease and cardiovascular disease that has been known for about 20 years. While research continues regarding the actual relationship, it is suggested that people who see their dentist frequently for cleanings and exams experience better overall health and have fewer medical issues.

So take care of yourself today. Check off one of your New Year’s resolutions. Schedule an appointment with your family dentist at Library Park Dental in Kenosha at 262-654-6535
